Musicales de l'Ouille Allègre - Concert by the Cara Sposa Ensemble
Bruno le Levreur, the first singer to perform at the Musicales de l’Ouille Allègre, has a distinctive voice—that of a countertenor—which is perfectly suited to Baroque music. He is accompanied by a viola da gamba and a theorbo, a plucked-string instrument from the lute family.
Description
Bruno le Levreur began singing at the age of nine. Since then, he has performed works by Josquin, Monteverdi, Bach, Handel, Pergolesi, Dowland, Purcell, Vivaldi... under the baton of renowned conductors such as Bernard Fabre-Garrus (A Sei Voci), William Christie and Paul Agnew (Les Arts Florissants), Laurence Equilbey (Accentus), and Vincent Dumestre (Le Poème Harmonique), with whom he has toured the world.
The ensemble CARA SPOSA was founded in 2013. Accompanied mainly by a viola da gamba and a theorbo, in 2020 he created ‘Le Cœur des Femmes’, which explores the theme of the Holy Woman, but also the woman in love and the maternal image, featuring arias by Monteverdi, Purcell, and Vivaldi, as well as gentle lullabies that are little known yet utterly delightful! At every concert, Bruno never fails to engage with the audience, explaining each piece and even getting them to sing along at the end of the program... but... shhh, it’s a surprise!
