The Nordic event to kick off the season!To mark the opening of the cross-country skiing and biathlon season, Bessans offers its S.N.O.W (Ski Nordic Opening Winter) event at the beginning of November: a 1st snow day to celebrate the resumption of Nordic activities.
On the program: free cross-country skiing, ski lessons, biathlon demonstration, ski tests with a brand village, ski market, entertainment...
Every year, skiing starts in November in Bessans
An early opening* possible at Bessans thanks to the snowfarming technique and its particular environment (a plateau at 1700m altitude surrounded by glaciers and peaks over 3000 which offer cool temperatures from autumn onwards: in Bessans, the average temperature in November is -1.2°).
The opening of the cross-country skiing season is eagerly awaited by amateur skiers and professional teams alike. In November 2025, just a few months before the Olympic Winter Games in Milan, the French cross-country and biathlon teams will once again be on hand to finalize their preparations.
*The precise opening date of the station in November 2025 will depend on weather conditions.
