Notre-Dame des Grâces chapel
Located in front of the hamlet of Villaron, it has experienced enlargements, reconstructions over the years following the damage of avalanches. Ex-voto, wedding crowns decorate its inner gate, witnesses of a tradition still alive in Bessans.
Description
The Chapel of Our Lady of Graces was recently restored. Above the entrance door, one can see a carved wooden panel representing a Virgin, probably due to Clappier's chisels.
Over the years, reconstructions have been necessary due to the damage caused by avalanches.
It is said that on the inner gate there are ex-votos and bridal wreaths that the newlyweds deposited here during the summer pilgrimage.
To the left of the chapel is a wooden cross, bearing a bronze plaque on which one can read "In memory of Mathieu Vincendet, who died accidentally on 1st September 1920 in his 44th year, Pray for him".
