Saint-Etienne chapel
Located at the exit of the village of Bessans, its construction dates back to the first half of the 15th century. The exterior wall painting and two paintings made in the 16th century by local artists are particularly interesting.
Description
Dedicated to Saint-Etienne, it is one of the churches and chapels of the "chemin du baroque". Founded in 1444 by Jean-Jean, an inhabitant of Bessans, it has on its façade the representation of many saints.
Inside, behind the altarpiece, there is a painting by Dominique Anselmet, an artist from Bonneval, where you can see Sainte-Agathe, Saint-Antoine and Saint-Felix. The statues of Saint John and the Virgin are the work of Clappier.
