Lac de Soliet trail through the Ribon valley
Step into a valley that holds delightful surprises for you. Enjoy a unique journey on both sides of a seemingly endless mountain stream.
Description
For an adventure far from the plateau, leave the plains of Bessans behind and venture into an enchanting valley. After a self-guided visit to Saint-Antoine chapel, make your way to the Oratory of the same name. It seems to protect your passage and the slope is already more gentle. Your eyes wander into the depths of the gorges. Witness the incredible power of these waters flowing from the Rochemelon glacier, at an altitude of over 3,000 metres. When the snow melts, what energy they exert, carving the bare rock! Let your thoughts meander to the beat of your footsteps. It's already time to cross the stream, leaving the challenging ascent of Pierre Grosse to the toughest hikers and trail runners. Treat yourself to a snack stop as you listen to the whistling marmots. What if a Golden Eagle flew by, would you recognize it? On the way back through this majestic circus, the path seems to take flight. Soak up the tranquility of Lac de Solliet, a small lake which, unfortunately, is often dry. Embark on a playful descent that will lead you to steps painstakingly carved by human hands. Will you take the time to count them on Escalier du Ribon?
