The Tour de la Bessanèse is a high-mountain tour (2200-3200 m) divided into three stages, taking in breathtaking scenery on both the French and Italian sides. This trek is ideal for experienced and sporty hikers.

Description

The three days of the tour are spent in guarded refuges, or in winter refuges (not guarded between September 15 and the end of October). The route takes place on footpaths (mainly GR) or off-piste to discover wild lakes and animals (chamois and ibex).
It presents no mountaineering difficulties, but because of the harsh environment in which it takes place (often scree), it is intended for experienced hikers (steep and/or slippery slopes, grass, hutches, short rocky passages with slight technical difficulties).
Until mid-September, the two Italian refuges will be manned and will offer board and lodging. After that, the 2 refuges will be closed, so we'll have to be self-sufficient for meals over 3 days - but that will make this trek a little wilder!
