Mountaineering Course - Hone Your Skills at the Avérole Refuge
This two-day advanced course will teach you more about best practices in high-altitude mountaineering. It is designed for people who have been climbing for two years and want to become more independent.
Description
2 days to enjoy the high-mountain environment: glacier, snowfield, summit, rock.
A course designed for beginners.
Physical level: for athletes who regularly engage in endurance activities; elevation gain up to 900m.
Technical level: for regular hikers wishing to discover mountaineering.
Accommodation at the Avérole refuge, which you must reach on your own by 6:00 PM on Friday, July 3.
Race schedule:
- Friday from 6:00 PM: welcome of the group by the guide(s), preparation for the following day’s race: weather, current high-mountain conditions, map reading, smartphone apps, assessment of participants’ physical and mental fitness, individual and group equipment check, wake-up and departure times.
- Saturday: during the race, collective decision-making. The guide teaches and, above all, shares his experience and love of the high mountains. Everyone listens to each other without rivalry or "competition": a roped-party spirit with a common goal. On the way back, we discuss the day’s run.
- Sunday: same program with a debriefing before returning to the valley. SOLD OUT
The possible routes will be determined with the guide on Friday evening, depending on conditions in the high mountains:
