Bessans is the 1ʳᵉ resort to open in France. For the opening of the cross-country ski season, enjoy a day event with the S.N.O.W.
On the program: skiing, equipment manufacturers, ski tests, waxing demo, entertainment, ski market, ect.

Description

Bessans is once again the first resort in France to open its ski area, from the first weekend in November 2025.
To mark the occasion, the resort is offering its S.N.O.W. (Ski Nordic Opening Winter) event for the 4th time: a 1ʳᵉ snow weekend to celebrate the resumption of cross-country skiing and Nordic activities. An early opening made possible thanks to the snowfarming technique and its special environment (plateau at 1700m altitude surrounded by glaciers and peaks over 3,000 offering cool temperatures from autumn onwards).

Program
- 8am-12pm: ski area opening reserved for elite skiers and biathletes.
- 111h: autograph session with the French cross-country ski team.
- 1 p.m.-5 p.m.: free ski area opening for all.
- 1:30-5:00 pm: ski tests with specialist brands and equipment suppliers, waxing and ski maintenance demonstrations. Biathlon initiation with laser rifle. Sled dogs on hand for petting and selfie sessions. Photo exhibition by and with Olivier Trompette, mountain guide for Bessans and Haute Maurienne Vanoise, and presentation of the Moonbike activity.
- 1:30 - 4:30 pm: free introduction to cross-country skiing (registration required). Never tried cross-country skiing before? Professional instructors will guide you through your first runs. Registration required (places are limited).
- 1:30 - 5:00 pm: Ski market*.
At SNOW, you'll be able to test equipment before you buy. Exclusive.
The whole day of Sunday November 2 is open to all and free of charge.

*For those wishing to sell their equipment (skis, poles, textiles or any other sports equipment): you can drop it off on Saturday November 1ᵉʳ, between 2pm and 5pm, and on Sunday November 2 between 9am and 12pm at the international biathlon site in Bessans.
